This year’s theme is Growth. What does Growth mean to you? When we talk about Growth we might mean growth in a community, like APS and their new relationship with the city of Hapeville, growth as an individual, or even growth of a generation.

In an effort to promote community involvement and to celebrate the art of printmaking, Atlanta Printmakers Studio developed a grand and exciting project called Print BIG! Steamroller Event. To engage the arts and non-arts community alike, APS invites several groups from university students, students from neighboring elementary, middle and high schools, and community centers to collaborate and bring together the Print BIG! Steamroller Print Event.

The goal is to support and celebrate the vitality of printmaking and to educate the community about this historic image-making medium. Print BIG! reflects the mission of the Atlanta Printmakers Studio – to nurture the practice of printmaking as an original art form among professional artists and everyone who wants to learn.

The focus is fun, creativity, and collaboration. Participating groups from Georgia, featuring artists, community organizations, and college, university, and high school students, will design and carve 4’x8’ woodblocks that will be printed on the day of the event with a steamroller.

During the Print Big! Steamroller Event the community is invited to attend and participate in the festivities including watching the printing extravaganza, viewing artwork on display, touring the studio, and making their own print at our hands-on print tent. Event t-shirts will be for sale and all new and renewing members who join during the event will be entered into a raffle to win a collection of fantastic prizes.

Print BIG! is an annual community art event!

Attendance is FREE and open to the public.
